FCSA first session at the new venue

Deepcut Community Centre is located at 89 Swordsman’s Road, Deepcut, Camberley GU16 6TB. It is a bright new building with ample free parking. The large room available to FCSA is reached through the front entrance and can be found at the end of the corridor.

The first meeting in the new venue was very well attended with at least 25 or more members attending. As can be seen the room is ideal for artists as it is spacious, uncarpeted and full of light; both good natural light and plenty of electric lighting.

At the start of the session everyone was encouraged to look at all the books and art materials that had been brought from the resources cupboard at the Adult Education Centre. It has been decided that storing such resources in an internet age is not necessary, so those items not taken have now been donated to a charity shop.

After browsing through over 100 art books of every size and art topic members settled down to do their own thing before the coffee/tea break.

Sue Whitehouse, the Chairman, and Marie Bunce served coffee, teas and cakes from the little kitchen that is very conveniently located adjacent to the room.

Time to catch up and chat has always been a valued part of the society’s meetings. It is fascinating to see what everyone is working on and to gain tips and knowledge from others who are happy to share their interest in art.

The next meeting at the new venue on 9th August 2024 will be a demonstration by Aurora Spain. She will be demonstrating the techniques and process necessary to paint a watercolour on canvas. Everyone welcome. £5.00 for members £6.00 for visitors.

Fabulous new venue, so great to see members old and new there. Wonder that all the books and materials that were stored at old venue will be going to new homes and will be enjoyed and useful once again. Tea and cake lovely gesture and many thanks to the hard working committee for making this all possible.
