|We rounded off our year
with an eleven week exhibition in the Surrey Heath Museum,
jointly organised by the Society and the Museum,
We were very pleased that the Mayoress of Surrey Heath, Beverley Harding, was able to
open the exhibition formally at a private view in the Museum during the evening of 4 October.
|After the exhibition, Gillian Barnes-riding wrote from
the Museum to Tom Moss to thank the Society.
She continued: "We had just over 900 visitors for the exhibition. Please pass my thanks on to all those who exhibited, kindly let us borrow their easels and to those who gave up part of their Saturday to demonstrate. I am pleased to say all easels and paintings were collected before the next exhibition started - we are really grateful to the society for keeping to this timetable.
|"Please can you also pass my thanks on to Liz Seward
for demonstrating to a local scout group in December; the group booked in for
an evening to especially see the exhibition and an artist at work.
"The people's choice was 'Ronda' by Robert Roope - over 120 people voted and Robert received 9 of the votes - there was a wide range of paintings visitors voted for. Please pass on our congratulations to Robert - do you need me to do anything for this voucher, I know you received Arts Council funding, but not sure who was buying it? If you wish to do a photo shoot at the museum - for both the Critic's Choice and People's Choice, please let me know.
|"We sold 6 paintings in all and a number of greetings
cards. We are still waiting for two of Robert Roope's paintings to be collected
and paid for in full. The purchasers has until the end of this month. Now the
next exhibition is up, Georgina is processing the art sales and the funds
should be in the artist's bank accounts in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
"I have the following dates for the 2014 exhibition, 1st Nov to 20th December. Please let me know if these are acceptable? We can work out the timetable again a bit nearer the time. Thanks again Tom.
Best Wishes, Gill
