The Winsland Award
Following the death of Bill Winsland in 2001, his widow, Mrs Elaine Winsland, initiated an annual cash prize for the best watercolour, gouache or mixed media landscape in the FCSA annual exhibition. Bill, a former Second World War fighter pilot, was an accomplished artist who extended his skills to sculpture and glass engraving. He made a valued contribution to the Art Society as its first Chairman and it is fitting that his name should be remembered in this way.

Elaine Winsland died in 2011 and her grand-daughter, Leonie McGuigan kindly indicated that she would like to continue supporting the annual prize in memory of both her grandparents.
